transient lunar phenomenon (TLP)

Alleged temporary appearance of coloured patches or obscuration on the surface of the Moon. Reported observations are associated particularly with the regions of the craters Aristarchus, Gassendi and Alphonsus. It remains unclear whether real physical phenomena have been observed.
